I saw an idea on coffee filter painting, so that's what Madeleine did this morning. It was a lot of fun, and I recommend it even for the youngest of toddlers. I read to use liquid watercolors, which we did not have. But I used my artist watercolors that I watered down. Worked like a charm. I would say that you could probably use crayola watercolors too, especially if you dampen the filters first.

For scented butterflies a packet of kool-aid mixed with about a quarter cup water would be fun(but stainy)
